The time has come to start looking at the matches starting at the end of April and, as always, we welcome new faces who would like to be included – we have three teams ranging from the lower to the higher leagues and it is good fun as well as competitive. We really would love to see some new faces.
2018 was a successful season for our 3 Ladies teams, thanks to the team captains and everyone that played.
The ladies first team finished in 4th position in Division 3, winning 7 out of fourteen matches, which was a great achievement as we had ladies injured and had to take ladies from the second team, just proving that we have a depth of talent within the ladies section.
1st Team Player of the Year 2018 – Maggie Zhang
After promotion last year Cop Ladies 2nd team had a good season consolidating their position mid-table. We finished a comfortable 5 wins or 10 points ahead of our nearest rivals thanks to the commitment & contributions of many players in all 3 ladies teams. We had some very good matches, lovely lunches, delicious cakes & a lot of fun. The sun was shining nearly every match – we’ve had a wonderful summer of tennis.
2nd Team Player of the Year 2018 – Lynda Withers
The ladies third team had a difficult season through injuries and the ongoing challenge of availability. We finished 5th in Division 7 winning 4 games, losing 5 games and having to concede another due to lack of players. On some occasions we played with just four ladies, who fought valiantly! However, these results do not illustrate the dedication shown by the third team members, who are committed to ensuring that the team does not dissipate and continues to allow the younger (and older!) ladies within the club a match at the weekends.
