Surprise Tournament

A ‘Surprise Birthday Tournament’ for Heather’s Big Birthday (in April) took place on Thursday 13th August after a couple of postponements due to pandemic rules! It was a true surprise for Heather and a most enjoyable day’s tennis with 11 couples taking part, expertly organized by Carol and Brian (Thank you).
A great time was had by all with lots of good tennis, chat, perfect weather conditions and, of course, Carol’s whistle! A piece of delicious lemon drizzle cake, made and decorated by club stalwart Kathy, with a glass of prosecco rounded off a brilliant occasion.
And the tournament winners? ….Mike and Heather, of course!!

Thanks to all for making it such fun and a belated Happy Birthday Heather!

Ladies July Tournament

A fun and successful evening of Ladies Tennis was held on Tues 28 July. Eighteen ladies took part, randomly paired and played 5 games per set against 5 different couples. It was great to see so many taking part and the tennis was fun with an edge of competitiveness! The windy evening added to the challenge and there were some close games followed by a glass of prosecco and chocolates!

Two couples shared top spot – congratulations to Saran and Ann, Sharron and Emma.

Sharron, Sarah, Ann, Emma

Thanks to Sharron for organizing us once again!

We observed Covid-19 guidelines – social distancing, hand hygiene and we brought our own glasses for the prosecco!

We will be having another fun tournament soon – please do consider entering if you are new to the club or have not played very much before.

For doubles, consider agreeing in advance which player will take the shot if a ball travels to the centre of the court
For coached sessions, pay careful attention to the instructions of the coach
Players do not now need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls – however, if you choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure you do not touch your face during play, and you should clean your hands before play and immediately after finishing (use alcohol gel if required)
Players should still avoid using their hands to pick up tennis balls from other
