Stay Alert – Guidelines for using the courts from 13 May 2020

Guidelines on safe play – effective from 13 May 2020 until further notice
1. Do play only with members of your own family (singles and doubles)
2. Do play with one person from outside your household (singles)
3. Do start playing on courts either on the hour or half past, and please limit play to 30 mins once other members are waiting to play
4. Do keep chatting and social gatherings to a minimum – avoid standing around on court chatting
5. Do avoid touching surfaces around the courts
6. Do bring and only touch your own marked tennis balls
7. Don’t touch your partner’s tennis balls (if playing with one person from outside your household) – return them to your partner with your racquet
8. Do comply with 2m social distancing at all times
9. Don’t change ends (if playing with a person from outside your household)
10. Do observe good hand hygiene – bring your own hand sanitiser or anti-bacterial wipes and/or gloves.
11. Don’t use the clubhouse at all
12. Don’t leave anything at the courts – take home drinks bottles, all litter
Please do not use the courts at all if you or anyone in your household has COVID 19 symptoms
Other tips
– We suggest you wipe down your racquet after visiting the courts
– Court gate handles and locks will be cleaned regularly but it is member’s responsibility to ensure their own safety.  We suggest that we all wipe down the net handles, gate handles and locks after we have played, using either anti-bacterial wipes or gel.

THANK YOU FOR USING THE COURTS RESPONSIBLY

Team Tennis, Clean up, Competitions

Update from Club Secretary, Jane:

Hopefully you have been down to try out the new courts (despite them not being ‘coloured’ yet), comments received so far have been really positive. The team tennis season starts at the end of April but please could I draw your attention to the following as we really want to make this year the best yet ..

  • All ladies wanting to be considered for team tennis, practice is now starting on Saturday mornings at 9.30 am – even if you don’t think you are good enough or can only commit to a few games do come down
  • Junior coaching is in full swing on Mondays (Duncan) and Wednesdays (Jack) – remember there is 20% discount for members
  • Club preparation for the season is on Saturday 21 March at 1.00 pm – cutting grass, clearing dead leaves etc (it’s good fun I promise!)
  • Quorn Competition on Sunday 5 April, 9.30 am until about 11.30 am- an LTA sponsored event. We struggled to get 4 couples least year but they all really enjoyed it. If we could get 6 couples this year it would be even better. Details – one adult relative/carer with a junior school age partner. Junior racquets, easier balls, no volleying, timed games, no overarm serving – £4 per partnership. As every year group at Copmanthorpe Junior School is having tennis lessons this year it would be great to encourage them.  Players do not have to be members.
  • We’re still working on starting some cardio tennis
  • A couple more weeks of indoor tennis for the Ladies and Return to Tennis Sessions (Thursday) but by the end of March everything will be outdoors again.
Looking forward to seeing you all
